Goodwood Win

MD Geoff Farmer is a keen historic Formula One competitor, and his purchase of the late Jo Siffert's famous Lotus 49 - the last privately entered car ever to win a Grand Prix - caused quite a stir. Not least because shortly after the auction Geoff was invited to compete at the Goodwood Revival Meeting only 7 weeks away, the only problem being that the car required a complete restoration!

Not one to shy from a challenge, Geoff enlisted the help of Lotus restorer Simon Hadfield to ensure the car was there on the day. Practice for the event was its first time out, and having overcome oil problems and set-up issues ran a thrilling race taking not only the chequered flag and Glover Trophy for Historic F1 cars but also the new outright lap record for Goodwood Circuit.

Another Goodwood Festival of Speed appearance was made in our very own "Spirit of Derbyshire II" Soapbox Challenge car. Up against stiff competition from Rolls Royce, Bentley, Honda, Ford and Renault the "Spirit of Derbyshire II" set third fastest time on Saturday and first on Sunday to finish an aggregate third overall.

The Adelphi team also received the Spirit of Soapboxing award from former F1 designer, Gordon Murray.
